The 5 Best Moments of 'Big Brother 10'

Yesterday's feature, The 5 Worst Moments of Big Brother 10, set off something of a firestorm in the comments section. I suppose that was to be expected. Big Brother fans can get fierce in their loyalties. That's the beauty of the series. As opposed to most reality shows, in which how the show is edited greatly influences how characters are portrayed, Big Brother lets its audience spend so much time with the contestants that we all can get a good feel for who they actually are as people. Stronger opinions are formed, and we are all thusly more passionate about defending or smearing their character. No one likes to read something negative about a person they legitimately like.

The 5 Worst Moments of 'Big Brother 10'

In downtown Seattle today, I witnessed a line around one full city block, hundreds and hundreds of seemingly normal human beings waiting to be let in somewhere. I had no idea what they were in line for – I assumed someone important was speaking somewhere (Sarah Palin? Flavor Flav?). Only later did I discover that there was no celebrity, no important speaker – these people were waiting in line for the opening of a brand new clothing store. Some Sweden-born establishment that apparently sells reasonably affordable apparel; I presume it's basically an Ikea for clothes. Point being – I will never understand people.

Gretchen from Housecalls posted about the Wrap Party:

Hey All!

I just got back from the BB10 wrap party and I had a fabulous time. Not only was the season 10 cast there, but so many other past House guests as well.

I have to say, Dan and Memphis are some of the most gracious winners I've ever met--they could not have been nicer. In fact, they signed the Team Dan shirt I wore on HCs (as did the rest of the BB10 House guests, plus some of the past guests--I'll be auctioning off the shirt for charity on EBay soon--stay posted for those details...) and they couldn't have seemed more in love with their girlfriends.

I talked to Chelsea and Crazy James (who's moving to France on Wednesday to 'get away from it all'), BB6 James was there, Erica and my favorite, dear friend Marcellas. Sheila was there with her hot, younger comedian boyfriend, and Chicken George was completely working the room.

Danielle has totally warmed up to Keesha after meeting at tonight's wrap party--I even saw them taking pics together like the best of (somewhat identical) friends. Evel Dick was there with a foxy date, and Bunky actually brought a super-fan from San Fran.

Libra looked gorgeous, but I didn't get a chance to meet her husband. Get this--not only her hubby, but all her kids are out here too--they're making a bit of a vacation of it. Jessie was, well...Jessie. April and Ollie still look like quite the couple together, and could not have been friendlier and in a better mood.

Jerry was great on the dance floor with his daughter, and it was cute to see Renny and her husband Patrick together after so long. Steven was in a great mood from riding, and Brian and Angie were super cool as usual--right up to Angie busting my husband's balls for saying, 'Congratulations'---she asked, 'For what? I Lost!'. Okay, it was funny at the time...

The gag reel was absolutely hilarious! It featured a Graduate tribute featuring footage of Renny and Dan 'flirting' and Jerry saying 'Plastic'. It also had a Jerry Gone Wild segment, with the old guy running around the House topless, and his nipples bleeped out. And a batman take called The Dan Night, with Dan in his black cape and Renny in her white facial cream and red lips, looking like Heath Ledger's Joker! And they put together a montage of Michell in the diary room asking for wine and beer, beer and wine, just wine, just beer, and then some hard alcohol (don't worry, she had a great sense of humor about it!) Well done, whoever done it...

Overall, a nice ending to a great season. And best of all, it was announced that there absolutely will be a BB11 next summer, so we have that to look forward to.

Well I'm exhausted, and I'm going to bed--we took a ton of awesome photos which I will put up on our site www.CrackinUpRadio.com/ some time tomorrow--I'll send you the direct link as soon as I do. But in the meantime, here's a couple of shots to whet your whistles...

Take care,

Gretchen

Metairie mom has no regrets about her 'Big Brother' experience

'I liked how I played the game'

Released from the "Big Brother 10" jury sequestration hut after Tuesday's finale -- during which weasely schoolteacher Dan Gheesling won the CBS reality-TV series' $500,000 prize -- Metairie mom Renny Martyn was immediately headed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for several days of decompression, then home to the Crescent City.

"It was much more difficult than I could ever imagine," Martyn said by phone from Los Angeles. "When you're sitting on the sofa watching it from home, it looks like, 'Oh, why didn't this one do this, why did this one do that?' It's very difficult, and it's really a psych game, too. Maneuvering through all those big personalities was difficult to do, really. It was much more difficult than I expected.

Exclusive Interview: Memphis, 'Big Brother 10' Runner-Up, Part 2

Big Brother 10 was a joint effort. Everyone has been so quick to call Dan the sole mastermind of the season, but he really couldn't have done it without Memphis's steady hand there at all times. Dan might have used Memphis, in a way, as an means to and end, but it's not like Memphis was a puppet either. He put forth a great effort and almost won. I wonder what would have happened had Memphis attempted to turn on Dan near the end of the game and tried to take either Keesha or Renny or Jerry to the final two with him. In the second part of our interview, this was one of the many questions I asked Memphis about the Big Brother season.

CBS Orders 11th Season of 'Big Brother'

"Big Brother" will be back next summer.

Just days after wrapping a successful 10th season, CBS has confirmed that its long-running reality soap opera has been renewed for an 11th cycle. The news was announced to "Brother" staffers Thursday night at the show's wrap party in Studio City, Calif.

The renewal doesn't come as much of a surprise, given "Brother's" solid performance this summer.

Exclusive Interview: Dan, Winner of 'Big Brother 10', Part 2

Dan cut his $500,000 check during the Big Brother 10 jury questions. He was poised and quick on his feet, while Memphis stammered and hurt his cause. My favorite answer of Dan's was when he discussed how he purposely wanted to get Michelle and Ollie mad at him so he would ensure that Memphis would want to take him to the final two. Great answer, but was it the truth? W.s that really his Big Brother strategy? That's one of the many questions I asked Dan, the Big Brother 10 champion, in the second part of our extended interview, which you can find here

BB10: Interview with Dan - "I owe America some of the half-million."

Fresh out of the house is this summer’s winning hamster, Dan Gheesling, the 25-year-old Catholic high school teacher from Dearborn, MI. Throughout this interview, Dan was relaxed and chuckling, even downright jolly at times. But he still came across as more humble than I expected, as well as very sincere. It’s easy to see how he was able to mend fences with houseguests that could have easily held his actions against him. But with a unanimous win against a likeable player, Dan’s relentless ability to not lose his cool in the face of personal insults paid off in a big way for him. Congratulations, Dan!

Exclusive: 'Big Brother' champ Dan Gheesling talks about his victory

It seemed unlikely to succeed at first, but in the end, Dan Gheesling and Robert "Memphis" Garrett's two-man "Renegades" alliance managed to outmaneuver the rest of Big Brother 10's houseguests and make it all the way to the competition's live Tuesday night finale.

Memphis Takes "Big Brother" for a Ride

Posted Sep 18th 2008 7:28PM by TMZ Staff

Memphis, the "Big Brother" contestant who won a 1969 Camaro the show didn't even own, has decided he doesn't want the car anyway.

After setting up a test-drive to see if he wanted the classic car -- which "Big Bro" would've had to purchase from the rightful owner -- Memphis realized the gas-guzzler wasn't for him and chose to pocket an undisclosed amount of greenbacks instead.

Evel Dick's interview with Dan

Big Bro Walks Over Memphis

In the first episode of BB10, Memphis won a sweet 1969 Camaro in a car-pulling contest (don't ask). Small problem -- "Big Brother" couldn't give the car away because the show didn't own it. We're told someone else actually held the title. In fact, the car had already been returned to the owner almost immediately after the contest.

And there's more...

Big Brother w/ Marcellas: And Then There Was One

So it all came down to two. Dan and Memphis are the last men standing. A little over 10 weeks ago, 13 strangers walked into the Big Brother house. Some stranger than others.

What an oddly awesome cast this season; Renny, the over-the-top Darlin' from N'awlins. Jerry, at 75, the oldest House Guest in Big Brother history. Libra, the mother of five month old twins who left her husband and three kids to compete. Steven, the gay rodeo star with very little grasp of the game but whoa was he hot. Jessie, the super hot natural body builder who took arrogance to a new level and oh, was I willing to go. And let's not forget the homophobic son of a preacher man Ollie, who thinks the gays aren't getting into heaven but he can nail as much premarital tail as he can get. For me those listed were the stars this season. The ones you couldn't help but watch. The ones that caused the drama and in some cases the fun.

Big Brother 10: James Rhine Dishes On The Finale

After spending Monday night with Angie, Steven, Brian, Monica, and Kelly I knew the Big Brother 10 Finale was going to be ridiculous. Not to mention the hour I spent with Dan's Mom trying to convince her that her son had it locked up.

So after getting to the Finale I expected to be placed in the Green Room with my BB Alum entourage which consisted of Jen BB9, Parker, Chelsia, Josh, Sharon BB9 and our friends. I met Nick BB8 when I got there and he was really an outstanding guy.

Metairie's Renny Martyn helps decide 'Big Brother 10' winner

Schoolteacher Dan Gheesling won the $500,000 prize during the Tuesday (Sept. 16) finale of the CBS reality-TV series "Big Brother 10," and Metairie mom Renny Martyn might've played a role in the outcome.

Martyn turned 54 in the camera-laden, Los Angeles TV set dressed as a "house," into which the "BB: 10" players were sealed in mid-July for several weeks of backstabbing and weaseling en route to big money.

INSIDE THE BIG BROTHER FINALE

And so with a burst of confetti and a rousing standing ovation, this tenth and wonderful season of Big Brother 10 came to a close tonight, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I found my way into the audience. Come hell or high water, there was no way I was gonna miss the chance to see the entire cast assembled in one place — and let's not overlook the chance to hobnob with some of the past alums (don't think that finally meeting Julie Chen fulfilled all my Big Brother stalking needs). In typical fashion, I grabbed my fellow BB enthusiast, Jash, and together we ventured into the San Fernando Valley for one last trip to the Big Brother household.

The experience did not disappoint.

Crazy James Moving to Paris

From James Blog:

Why Paris, Why Now?

Before we get into the goods of the reasoning behind my adventure and the reasoning behind my love I must tell you I am sober. Sober from people, Sober from Los Angeles, and sober from all liquids that will cause me to increase my potentiality of not remember typing this. I must also remark that with this sobriety comes an honesty I have buried, wait take that back an honesty that I have not shared in awhile. I believe I have lacked this honesty because I became jaded. Maybe I increased my social disfunction by not being more open. I think alot of these emotions were spurred on by going to the bar without any elixirs that would guarantee a good time. A feeling of emptiness washed over me tonight. Not empty in the sense I that I didn't know anybody or didn't like anybody but the fact was they only knew one side of who I was. Crazy Drunk James. The boy who kisses everyone when he gets drunk. The boy who yells and dances like a fool in the rain. But thats just it, they only know me as the boy. I mean a few people know my heart and listen to me connect and care. I guess what I am saying is I neglected my friends by not being more open. I think alot of people tend to casually go with the good time although the good time might not be in relation with have a long term friendship outside of those walls. With my freshly dyed hair and stinky feet I will progress.

Interview with Dan's Sister Kelly

Big Brother 10's Jerry: "I Don't Have to Apologize"

Jerry MacDonald made history before he ever walked through the Big Brother house's front door by being the oldest person ever cast for a reality TV show. And then the 75-year-old made memories by fondling a fellow houseguest two-thirds his age and being in the middle of several of the season's most heated shouting matches. Even so, the great-grandpa from Texas worked his way to the Final 3 before being evicted just short of the prize money. In our chat he tells us why he was so grabby, why he makes no apologies for his behavior in the house and the real reason behind his problems with Dan.

The Renegades Who Had It Made

First, in honor of 9/11, here is the infamous 9/11 events from BB2 that aired a few days later. Remember, it took place when they were down to the Final 3 as well, and Monica had a relative who was killed in the collapse of the towers.

Must have been before Julie's more recent plastic surgery.

Dan & Memphis had agreed that Dan should win the final HOH and evict Jerry so that Memphis would "secure" Jerry's vote the same way Dan "secured" Keesha's vote.
